Flights in Italy were delayed and canceled Monday due to strike action taken by air traffic controllers and air transport workers.

According to an AP report, Italian carrier, Alitalia cancelled approximately 40 percent of its domestic and international flights Monday. The report stated Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa and others cancelled flights also as transport workers staged a 24-hour strike and air traffic controllers walked off the job for four hours.
