TrafFix Devices Water Wall Offers Flexible Airport Safety Barrier
TrafFix Devices is highlighting its Water Wall system as a temporary barrier solution designed to provide positive separation in a variety of airport applications.
The Water Wall can be used to separate work zones from active areas during runway, taxiway and other airport infrastructure maintenance projects. The system can also be deployed for passenger flow management and temporary queuing during peak travel periods or special events.
Manufactured from low-density polyethylene plastic, the Water Wall features a double-wall knuckle design intended to reinforce hinge points and improve durability. Sections can pivot up to 30 degrees to accommodate different layouts, while a recently introduced corner piece allows for 90-degree turns.
The system includes an 8-inch fill hole with a twist-lock cap and a tamper-resistant offset drain plug. Steel connection and keeper pins secure individual sections together, and molded-in forklift and pallet jack slots are designed to simplify transportation and positioning.
For applications requiring additional security, the Water Wall can be fitted with a chain-link fence attachment.
According to TrafFix Devices, the Water Wall has been NCHRP-350 tested and passed to MASH TL-1 Barrier Wall, TL-2 Longitudinal Channelizing Device and TL-3 Barricade standards. The system can also connect directly to the company's SLED end treatment, eliminating the need for additional shielding or flaring.
