The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has appointed Brendan Reed as vice president and chief operations officer, effective March 25, placing him in charge of operational strategy at San Diego International Airport.
In the role, Reed will oversee terminal and airside operations, aviation and public safety, operational planning and readiness, and facilities management as the airport continues to expand and modernize.
Reed brings a decade of experience with the Airport Authority, most recently serving as senior director of operational planning and readiness. In that position, he led coordination efforts for the opening of the airport’s $3.8 billion Terminal 1 program, one of the most complex development projects in SAN’s history.
Earlier in his tenure, Reed served as director of airport planning and environmental affairs, where he guided policies related to master planning, sustainability, environmental management and noise abatement. He also led enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives and regulatory coordination efforts.
Reed is an Accredited Airport Executive and a LEED Accredited Professional, with academic credentials in biology and ecology.
His appointment comes as SAN continues to advance its Terminal 1 redevelopment and broader operational improvements, positioning the airport for continued growth in passenger demand and system complexity.
