“New” Ameco Offers Stronger Capabilities to Customers
New Ameco was established in May 2015 by the integration of Air China’s in-house MRO arm Air China Technics and the former Ameco which is an MRO JV company between Air China and Lufthansa German Airlines. It is still a joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa German Airlines, with 75% shareholding by Air China and 25% by Lufthansa.
New Ameco currently consists of a Beijing Base and nine branches, more than 160 maintenance stations at home and abroad, which forming a large maintenance network worldwide. Moreover, it possesses maintenance licenses from almost 30 countries or regions, including CAAC, FAA and EASA.
After integration, new Ameco is much stronger in its capabilities, output and network than before, and it also has sufficient resources, assets and channels, which enables Ameco a stronger ability to serve customers in China and overseas markets.
Line Maintenance
In 2015, Ameco has increased it center base by seven international customers for line maintenance, making the amount of 3rd international customers to more than seventy. In last November, Ameco became the first MRO provider in China to provide A350XWB line maintenance for Finnair for the carrier’s daily flight Helsinki-Shanghai route.
Now Ameco’s line maintenance service covers all Boeing and Airbus in-service series, including new Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.
Airframe
Ameco and Hong Kong Airlines signed a long-term agreement on Airbus A330 fleet heavy maintenance in last November. Being capable of airframe overhaul on Boeing 737/747/767/777 and Airbus A319/320/330/340/380, Ameco is ready for the Boeing 747-8 airframe overhaul capability starting from earlier this year, aiming at seeking more opportunities for overhaul business in the global market.
Ameco began to expand Aircraft Related Components (ARC) repair capability coupled with composite repair and got the repair authorization of V2500-A5 and CFM56-5B thrust reverser in October 2015. The first V2500-A5 engine thrust reverser already started in December.
Besides, Chengdu Branch developed freighter conversion on Boeing 757-200 from 2014, which becomes one of star products in Ameco.
Engine Repairs
Ameco makes a gratifying achievement in V2500 overhaul capability last year. The service on V2500-A5 series as a new product will promote Ameco’s market
competitiveness and enable it to serve more customers at home and abroad.
For the mature products, Ameco signed an engine Power-by-the-Hour (PBH) contract on 14 PW4000s from six Boeing 767s of Shanghai Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines. It is the first time for Ameco to provide engine services under a PBH model.
Landing Gear
Ameco is busily engaged in A330 landing gear overhaul. As the first MRO provider in China, Ameco got the authorization from FAA, CAAC and EASA in 2014, and now its capabilities cover A320/321 and Boeing 737/737NG/747/767.
Component Repairs
ECU repair goes steadily after Ameco passed FADEC audit and verification in December 2014. As the only one ECU MRO supplier in China, Ameco has cooperated with four domestic customers. At the same time, Ameco insists discussing with OEM for further cooperation.
VIP & Business Jet Service
Ameco has been offering VIP and Business Jet completion capabilities, products and services since 2012, and now it is preparing to acquire EASA DOA/POA to expand the related market.
Used for interior manufacturing, the second VIP and Business Jet completion workshop was opened in July 2015 which expands Ameco’s interior manufacture capabilities.
Ameco Aviation College
Certified by CCAR147 and EASA147, Ameco Aviation College provides skills training based on the German "dual training system" after establishment in 1991. On the basis of satisfying its own mechanics, it also can meet the request of customers by making customer-oriented courses.
Asian polytechnic college is one of the 3rd-party clients since 2011, and two batches of students come to receive practice training each year. It’s specially noted that the training increases electronic besides mechanic contents from 2015.
