A small aircraft carrying three people crashed in the Berkshire County town of Florida Friday evening, the Massachusetts State Police said.

WGGB-TV reported that officials at the North Adams told police that the airport lost contact with the small plane at about 6:45 p.m. as it attempted an emergency landing and apparently crashed near South County Road and Church Street in Florida.

The three people on board the aircraft, two adults and a minor child, were taken to the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield where they were treated for minor injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission.
