6 Notable GSE Product Introductions Shaping Ground Support in 2025
Electrification, digital integration, and operational efficiency continue to define the evolution of ground support equipment.
In 2025, manufacturers introduced a range of new products aimed at reducing emissions, improving safety, and helping operators adapt to increasingly complex ramp environments. From electric deicers and tractors to smarter gate infrastructure, these six introductions highlight where GSE innovation is headed.
1. Mallaghan Launches First Electric Catering Truck in North America
Mallaghan has launched North America’s first fully electric refrigerated catering truck for aviation operations. Developed in collaboration with International Motors, LLC, the CT6000E incorporates several technologies focused on safety and efficiency, including an aircraft-controlled approach system (CAS), a 360-degree bird’s-eye camera system with onboard recording, and integrated telemetry.
2. Global Ground Support Unveils GTV-5000 Glycol Transfer Vehicle
Global Ground Support introduced the GTV-5000 Glycol Transfer Vehicle, designed to improve efficiency and reduce costs in deicing operations. By bringing the dispensing station directly to the deicer, the unit helps minimize turnaround times and operational downtime.
3. ITW GSE’s EcoGate Sets New Standards for Smarter, Sustainable Gate Operations
ITW GSE’s EcoGate is designed to optimize gate electrification by managing electric and battery-driven GSE as an integrated system. The platform connects GPUs, PCAs, chargers, and other eGSE into a single intelligent network, enabling coordinated energy use and more efficient gate operations.
4. Vestergaard Company Launches Fully Electric Elephant e-BETA
Vestergaard Company unveiled the fully electric Elephant e-BETA at GSE Expo in Las Vegas, building on the long-standing Elephant BETA deicer platform first introduced in 1983. The e-BETA retains the original boom-and-telescope design and elevated operator cabin while transitioning all primary functions to electric operation.
5. Textron Debuts Safeaero 220E Electric Deicer for Wide Range of Aircraft
Textron introduced the Safeaero 220E, an all-electric aircraft deicer combining lithium battery power, advanced fluid management, and true single-operator capability. The model was unveiled for international markets and CE-certified for use in Europe, expanding the Safeaero product line.
6. Shire Launches its First Range of Electric GSE
Shire, the aviation brand launched by Belgian engineering firm M-ECS, introduced its first range of purpose-built electric tractors for baggage and cargo operations. Designed from the ground up as electric vehicles, the lineup moves beyond diesel retrofits toward long-term efficiency and adaptability.
