Alaska Airlines Announces New Service to Kona
Alaska Airlines on June 19, announced plans to begin thrice-weekly nonstop flights from Sacramento to Hawaii’s Kona International Airport (KOA) on the island of Hawaii beginning Dec. 20. The new service is significant as it marks the first time nonstop service has been offered between Sacramento and the Big Island.
“We know our customers love Hawaii, even in sunny California. That’s a big reason we’re excited to add this new connection between Sacramento and the Big Island,” said John Kirby, vice president of capacity planning and alliances at Alaska Airlines. “This new route shows Alaska’s ongoing commitment to continued growth and investment throughout the West Coast.”
“We are pleased that Alaska Airlines is expanding its service to Hawaii from Sacramento. This new service to Kona marks Sacramento International Airport’s first scheduled service to the Big Island, and enhances the portfolio of nonstop service between SMF and the Islands,” said Mark Haneke, manager of air service development and marketing for Sacramento International Airport.
