New Direct Flight From Gulfport to Orlando Is Coming

May 16—For residents on the Coast looking to visit Disney World or any of the other activities in Orlando, the trip is about to get a bit easier.

Starting on May 18 and lasting until August 14, Allegiant Air will be operating a direct flight from Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to Orlando Sanford International Airport.

"It's a very short flight, a little over an hour, opposed to a nine-hour drive," said Clay Williams, the executive director of Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.

The flight will operate twice a week on Saturday and Wednesday.

"We have seen very low fares that give people the ability to travel," Williams said. Allegiant is a budget airline which specializes in low-cost flights.

Allegiant started operating flights out of Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport on seasonal basis in fall 2017.
