A flight from Bradley International Airport landed safely after it had to return to the airport because of a mechanical problem, an airport spokeswoman said.

The outbound American Airlines plane was headed to Washington D.C. when pilots became aware of the problem.They turned around and returned to Bradley, where the plane landed safely, Alisa Sisic said.

“There was no impact to airport operations,” she said.
