ARGUS Releases October Business Aircraft Activity Report

Nov. 17, 2016

ARGUS TRAQPak data is aircraft flight number specific arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the US (including Alaska and Hawaii), the Caribbean and Canada.  Note: for purposes of this report, FAR Part 135 flight data represents all flight activity of aircraft on a Part 135 charter certificate regardless of individual flight mission. The business aircraft activity data is for Oct. 1-31, vs. Oct. 1-31, 2015 and Oct. 1-31, vs. Sept. 1-30.

October business aviation flight activity posted an expected month over month increase from September, finishing up 3.4 percent. Results by operational category were all positive for the month, with Fractional up 4.6 percent, Part 135 up 3.3 percent and Part 91 activity up 3.2 percent.  The aircraft categories were all positive as well with the largest month over month increase coming in the large cabin sector, up 6.7 percent from September.

Reviewing year over year flight activity (October 2016 vs. October 2015), TRAQPak data indicates that October 2016 posted an increase of 3.3 percent. The results by operational category showed significant gains across the board with Fractional activity rising 5.7 percent. Part 135 activity followed with a gain of 5.2 percent and Part 91 rose a modest 1.5 percent. The aircraft categories were all positive and were led, again, by a 10.3 percent boost for large cabin jets.

Looking ahead…TRAQPak analysts estimate there will be a 3.1 percent increase in overall flight activity year over year in November.
