WH Smith North America Adds Six Stores at Newark Liberty International Airport

On the heels of a seven-store opening inside Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) earlier this year, WH Smith North America (WHSNA), incorporating Marshall Retail Group and InMotion, America’s leading specialty retailer in the airport marketplace, has recently celebrated the opening of six additional concepts at the airport’s renovated Terminal A, including the company’s first ever sports-themed store, Play the Field.

In partnership with the popular toy brand, WH Smith North America has brought a bright and vibrant LEGO® store to ERW. Shoppers are greeted by a large, cheery LEGO® character upon entering the store, and a wide assortment of the brand’s most popular products line the walls, including Duplo, Ninjago, Star Wars and more.  

WHSNA has opened two additional, convenient InMotion locations at EWR to provide passengers with all the tech and electronic essentials they could need for their travel. InMotion is the world’s leading electronics retailer in airports and carries the latest tech products from brands such as Apple, Beats, Bose, Sony and JBL. These locations mark the brand’s fifth opening at EWR. One of the new InMotions has been uniquely designed with a fully digital exterior, making it only the second InMotion location in the country with that special feature.  

In addition to these branded locations, WHSNA is excited to bring travelers a new concept geared specifically towards the state of New Jersey called Just Jersey. The open-air concept, Just Jersey, features New Jersey themed apparel, souvenirs and gifts, as well as an assortment of items and consumables from local vendors. 

Play the Field is WHSNA’s first ever sports-themed concept. This store offers travelers branded merchandise from a variety of New York-based professional sports teams, including the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks and Nets.  A 12-foot wall of new-era hats can be seen at Play the Field, and travelers can also shop for team tees, hoodies, plush items and other souvenirs. 

The final concept included in this wave of openings is EWR’s second New Jersey Monthly location. The first New Jersey Monthly store was opened by WH Smith North America earlier this year. Now both locations of New Jersey Monthly are open and conveniently located for passengers to catch the latest headlines and pick up a wide selection of travel necessities.

With the addition of these six stores, WHSNA has successfully opened 13 stores at EWR since January of this year. In total, the company now operates an impressive 20 stores inside EWR, including concepts like AMERICA!, Vue New Jersey, ShorePoints Market and more.
