Mineta San José International Airport Celebrates National Aviation Week with Its First-Ever QR Code Scavenger Hunt

Aug. 22, 2022
Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) announced plans to celebrate National Aviation Week by hosting its first-ever QR Code Scavenger Hunt. Starting Friday, Aug. 19, SJC passengers will have the opportunity to search for clues throughout the terminals for a chance to win one of three prizes: a grand prize valued at $500, a second prize valued at $250 and a third prize valued at $100.Titled the SJC Aviation Week Scavenger Hunt, the tech-centric event provides 10 clues for participants at flysanjose.com/aviation, leading participants to a QR code that can be scanned for a chance to win. The answers to the clues feature amenities, shops, art and history throughout the airport. As a contactless event, it’s both a fun and safe way to celebrate National Aviation Week.National Aviation Day was established in 1939 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt through a presidential proclamation. The Aug. 19 date was selected in honor of Orville Wright’s birthday. Since then, aviation has been celebrated on both the day and week in various ways including educational and engaging events.“While we take time this week to honor the history of aviation, we also wanted to show appreciation for our dedicated passengers,” said John Aitken, Director of Aviation, Mineta San José International Airport. “The last two years of travel have been difficult to navigate for many, and this event was created as a fun way for returning travelers to explore our airport and learn about it along the way.”
