Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Announces New Direct Service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), the region’s premier aviation gateway, announced today that American Airlines will begin non-stop service from Manchester to Chicago on June 6, 2019. Initially, this new service will be offered twice daily with flights departing from MHT at 7:20 a.m. and 3:56 p.m. approximately. Flights will arrive at MHT from O’Hare International Airport (ORD) at 3:26 pm. and 10:17 p.m. daily.
Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig joined airport and airline officials at MHT today to celebrate the inaugural afternoon flight to ORD. The event included remarks at American Airlines Gate 8.
“The service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport is a welcome addition to Manchester, especially at a time when Manchester’s businesses are expanding and our local economy is thriving,” said Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig. “I’d like to thank the leadership here at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport for their initiative to reach out to the community to identify needs and promote opportunities. I’d also like to thank American Airlines’ commitment to the Greater Manchester market.”
“Increasing service at this airport isn't just convenient for passengers, it strengthens our local economy by making Manchester a more accessible destination. As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I'm committed to making sure air travel is safe, efficient, and convenient for customers, and I look forward to supporting operations at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport any way I can,” remarked Congressman Chris Pappas, who was also in attendance.
American Airlines’ strategic decision to connect the two cities is mutually beneficial for both airports, considering Manchester’s thriving local economy and Chicago’s status as a destination and a major hub for those traveling west.
“We are very excited that American Airlines is increasing its investment in New Hampshire once again. The introduction of new service to Chicago O'Hare will improve connectivity to not only the Midwest and popular West Coast destinations, but also to Trans-Pacific markets. We value our relationship with American Airlines, and we look forward to working with them to further enhance their service in Manchester,” said MHT director Ted Kitchens.
“Our new Manchester, New Hampshire service to Chicago, O’Hare gives our customers north of Boston, and throughout the state of New Hampshire, an easy way to connect to the Midwest and beyond,” said American Airlines representative Paul Swartz. “Chicago, O’Hare is our third largest hub in American’s network with more than 500 daily domestic and international flights each day.”
To celebrate the inaugural flight from Manchester to Chicago, MHT surprised passengers, airport staff, state and city leaders, and members of the media by serving up slices of world-famous Gino’s East deep-dish pizza, flown in from Chicago for the occasion. A creative custom cake depicting American Airlines’ brand-new flight path and the CRJ-700 aircraft that will be making the trips was also on hand for those in attendance to enjoy.
The inaugural flight was sent off with a traditional water cannon salute on the tarmac.
