B-29 Superfortress Coming to SPI Aug. 10

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) AirPower History tour is bringing their iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, FIFI, to Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport Aug. 10-14.

“FIFI” will be accompanied by several World War II aircraft including a P-51 Mustang, SB2C Helldiver, C-45 Expeditor, T-6 Texan and a PT-13 Stearman. The CAF AirPower History Tour provides powerful history lessons to audiences across the United States. Their collection of flying military aircraft will bring the sights, sounds and stories of World War II aviation to Springfield and the surrounding community. Visitors can view the aircraft up close, watch them fly, and also purchase rides in them.

These historic aircraft will be located at Horizon Aviation, 900 Capital Airport Drive, Springfield, Ill. The event will be open to the public Aug. 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the ramp is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 11-17. Children age 10 and under are free.
