Coastal Carolina Regional Airport announced the selection of Colonel Andrew G. Shorter (USMC, Retired) as the new airport director.  Shorter, a 30-year aviation executive, takes over as head of Coastal Carolina Regional Airport.  He replaces Tom Braaten who retired in April.

“We’re excited about Andy joining our team,” said Harold Blot, Chairman of Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Authority.  “His selection was based on a combination of his professional background, skill and vision for Coastal Carolina Regional Airport.”

“This is an incredible opportunity and I am honored to have been selected as the new Airport Director,” said Shorter.  “I’m very familiar with the role that it plays in the area and look forward to working with the talented staff and the surrounding community to lead the Airport to even greater levels of success.”

Shorter was the previous deputy director at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport.  He also served as the Commander of Marine Aircraft Group 14 before his retirement in 2013.  He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University.  He is a Certified Member of American Association of Airport Executives.
