Passengers Apprehended Over Gun at NAIA

Sept. 10, 2019

THE Manila International Airport Authority said the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group on Monday arrested two passengers for illegal possession of a firearm. Aviation police identified the passengers as Leandro Gatdula, who was catching his Asiana Airlines flight to Korea at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1, and Jason Tobias, who was supposed to fly a Philippine Airline flight to United Arab Emirates at NAIA terminal 2. Authorities said both were carrying .22 caliber pistols.

The guns were found inside their luggage when this underwent x-ray scanning at the initial security check of the two NAIA terminals manned by personnel of the Office for Transportation Security. Aviation police said aside from the pistol, six pieces of bullets and magazine were also found on Gatdula’s luggage. The two were later brought to the Aviation police office to undergo further investigation.
