Naples Aviation’s Michael Hushek and Scott Seber Honored with NATA Industry Excellence Awards

May 8, 2019

The National Air Transportation Association honored Naples Aviation FBO Manager Michael Hushek and Line Technician III Scott Seber with Industry Excellence Awards, presented to individuals and organizations that demonstrate superior service to the aviation business community, particularly through their leadership skills and advancement of a safety-first culture.

Operated by Naples Airport Authority, Naples Aviation is the fixed-base operator at Naples Airport that provides fuel, hangar space, parking and other services to private and corporate aircraft and other general aviation operators.

Hushek received its inaugural Future Leader Award, which recognizes an individual who has shown outstanding promise, passion and professionalism within the general aviation community. The award was added to NATA’s annual program this year to encourage and recognize aviation business professionals who make significant contributions to the aviation industry and serve as guiding lights for the next generation. Hushek oversees a 24/7 operation, manages a staff of 50 and continually seeks opportunities to engage, develop and mentor his staff members for future success. His 15 year aviation career encompasses 10 years of FBO management.

“Mike already is a proven leader,” said NAA Executive Director Chris Rozansky. “He’s made a significant impact in delivering service excellence to our customers, community and employees.”

Seber received its Safety 1st Certified Line Service Professional Award, the fifth annual award that recognizes the achievements of certified line service professionals demonstrating their positive impact on safety, service, and business success. Seber has been with Naples Aviation for 20 years. He encourages a high standard of safety, professionalism and leadership on the ramp, demonstrated by his willingness to train new line service team hires and learn about the latest equipment and aircraft to ensure quality work within his department. Seber also regularly volunteers his time and 30-year aviation expertise on the company’s safety committee to foster the application of industry best practices for his team, customers and community.

“Scott is a huge asset to the Naples Aviation team. Scott never fails to step-up to take on any task assigned, when asked, or give 110 percent on a daily basis,” said NAA Senior Director of Operations Ryan Frost, who has worked with Scott for the last 16 years. “I commend Scott for his efforts. He is most deserving of this award”

Award recipients will be recognized during the June 18 Industry Excellence Awards Presentation Luncheon held in conjunction with the NATA 2019 Annual Meeting and Aviation Business Conference.

Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport services more than 112,000 annual operations, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services.

All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.
