Russia Extends Closure of Airports Close to Ukraine

Moscow — Russia is extending restrictions on its civilian air traffic near the border with Ukraine.

A closure of 11 airports in the area that was put in place on February 24 has been extended to April 1, Russia's federal air travel agency Rosaviatsiya said on Thursday, as reported by the Interfax news agency.

Sochi is the only remaining airport left open on the Black Sea coast. Simferopol on Crimea and the international airport in Rostov on Don are among the closed airports.

Online flight trackers have shown that flights have bypassed airspace in Russia's south-west since the war broke out.

Russia invaded neighbouring Ukraine one month ago on February 24.
