The Port of Benton started construction on Richland Airport’s Main Apron Improvement Project. Construction is expected to continue through Sept. 30. When complete, the project will help improve the functionality, safety and long-term durability of one of the airport’s most heavily used operational areas. 

Planned upgrades include reconfiguring portions of the main apron to better utilize available space, expanding aircraft parking capacity, strengthening pavement areas identified as having relatively thin pavement and helping protect existing hangar facilities. 

The project is funded through the Infrastructure Law Funds, formerly the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

“These improvements will help Richland Airport better serve the needs of pilots, tenants and visitors while positioning the airport for future growth,” said Port of Benton Airport Manager Quentin Wright. “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our tenants and airport users as we complete this important infrastructure investment.”
