Kansas City International To Raise Parking Rates This Month. Here’s What To Know
Prepare to spend a couple more dollars to park your car at Kansas City International Airport.
In an email to The Star, the Kansas City Aviation Department said that starting Sept. 15, it would raise parking rates at MCI for the parking garage, surface lot and valet service.
“Rate increases will help fund increases in the cost of operations and maintenance, personnel wages, benefits costs, contracted services, and debt service,” a city spokesperson said in the email.
Any customer who parks in the MCI garages prior to Sept. 15 will not be charged the increased rate.
How much will the MCI parking increase by?
These will be the increased parking rates at MCI, effective Sept. 15:
- Garage: Increases from $28 to $30 per day
- Garage valet: Increases from $35 to $40 per day
- Surface lot: Increases from $20 to $22 per day.
The economy lot will remain $9 per day, and park air express will stay at $10 per day for outdoor parking and $20 for indoor.
According to the Aviation Department, no general fund tax revenues are used for the administration, promotion, operation or maintenance of the airports in the system. They also said that at $9 per day, the economy lot remains one of the cheapest parking options offered at all on- and off-airport parking facilities.
Prices for parking at MCI have gradually increased in recent years. The Star previously reported that in 2024, MCI economy parking was $7.50 per day and the airport surface lot was just $18 per day.
