Dozens of Flights Canceled at Hopkins International Airport Because of Winter Storm

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The winter storm is disrupting travel on the roads and in the air, with dozens of flights being canceled at Hopkins International Airport and thousands nationwide.

Nearly 100 flights scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3 at Hopkins have been canceled, according to the airport’s website. There is no indication on when the airport will resume normal operations.

Hopkins is far from alone. More than 3,700 flights nationwide have been canceled for Thursday as the storm cuts a 2,000 mile swath across the middle of the U.S., according to flightaware.com. Dallas-Fort Worth Airport has 400 cancellations, the most in the nation, while Chicago O’Hare has 250.

The flight cancellations are among the many travel headaches being created by the storm, which is expected to drop 8 to 12 inches of snow on the Cleveland area. The Ohio Turnpike is banning high-profile vehicles from using the highway until Friday morning and the Ohio Department of Transportation is discouraging travel overall.

Several cities in Northeast Ohio have issued parking bans. Hundreds of school districts have canceled classes Thursday because of the expected dangerous travel conditions.
