Thousands Stranded at Amsterdam Airport Due to Fueling Problems
Amsterdam (dpa) - Fuelling problems have caused a total of 20,000 to 30,000 passengers to be stranded at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on Wednesday, a spokeswoman told dpa.
Several hours later, the issue was resolved and planes were able to tank properly and take off again.
The airport assumes that not all stranded guests will receive hotel rooms and several thousand passengers are likely to sleep on field beds overnight.
More than 100 planes could not take off on time due to a disruption at the external fuelling company, while 180 flights were cancelled completely.
Durch airline KLM still expects delays on Thursday.
