NC: Forsyth to Ask for More Direct Control of INT

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to ask the N.C. General Assembly to approve legislation that would put governance of Smith Reynolds Airport more directly under the commissioners.

The board’s request calls for dissolving the existing Airport Commission of Forsyth County and transferring all airport assets to Forsyth County by June 30, 2019, as well as assuming all of the airport commission’s contracts, liabilities and obligations.

“That would give the board some time to determine what is the best entity to roll this commission and its powers into, and how it wanted to operate, because the board has all kinds of flexibility under the law …, said County Attorney Davida Martin.
