New Hangar Completed at Two Harbors Airport
Sep. 14--A new $1.3 million, eight-plane hangar has been completed at the Richard B. Helgeson Airport in Two Harbors. Kraus-Anderson in Duluth was originally scheduled to begin construction of the municipal airport's 11,726-foot hangar in the fall, but it was put on hold by the Federal Aviation Administration due to cold weather, according to a news release from Kraus-Anderson. About 90% of the project's funding came from the FAA, in addition to contributions from the Minnesota Department of Transportation Office of Aeronautics and the city of Two Harbors. The Two Harbors airport is the only airport on the North Shore between Duluth and Grand Marais. The Silver Bay airport closed in 2018. ___ (c)2020 the Duluth News Tribune (Duluth, Minn.)
