Ontic has officially announced the opening of its first maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility located in Miramar, Florida.

The $10 million Center of Excellence provides 64,000 square feet of space for increased support capacity to cater to users of Ontic-manufactured systems and parts. It is Ontic’s eighth sight across the globe.

The facility establishes a singular hub that’s dedicated to repair, combining Ontic’s MRO teams, processes and equipment to maintain consistent service offerings and reduce turnaround times.

The Miramar facility is now permitted to perform certified repair directly for distributors and customers after earning FAA approval. Ontic holds the license for thousands of product lines, ensuring the company’s MRO teams can complete repairs to each component’s OEM standards by retaining:

  • Proprietary data
  • Test equipment
  • Tooling

This also backs the Miramar facility’s operations with OEM warranty and makes sure repairs last long and all components meet necessary engineering specifications.

Announced in 2024, Ontic’s MRO Center of Excellence features

  • Machine shop
  • Paint room
  • Vibration testing
  • Portable dark room
  • 12,000 feet of expansion space for upcoming new product licenses

These features will give Ontic the capability to offer end-to-end MRO support for:

  • Avionics
  • Actuation
  • Electro-mechanical
  • Hydraulics

Ontic anticipates around 150 new skilled jobs to open at the new facility, with the company currently recruiting for roles in areas like:

  • Engineering
  • Technical operations
  • Supply chain
  • Logistics functions
  • Customer service

Vice President of Global MRO Operations at Ontic Jack Karapetyan commented, “The opening of our first-ever Ontic MRO Center of Excellence marks an important first milestone in the creation of our new global MRO network, which will improve turnaround time and transparency, and transform how we support airlines and operators.”

Karapetyan continued, “This investment further positions us as an industry leader, both enhancing and expanding our existing operations while increasing future growth opportunities across our original equipment and MRO operations.”

This new facility is part of Ontic’s $30 million global investment in MRO facilities, which also includes a new MRO hub in Tewkesbury, UK. These two new maintenance sites help establish a network to support customers across multiple regions while keeping quality and MRO turnaround times consistent.

“Miramar brings together the people, skills and infrastructure required to support increasingly complex repair work,” added Karapetyan, “We’re building a team here that understands the importance of precision, speed and reliability for operators who depend on these components every day.”
