EHang (EHang Holdings Limited) has announced the company’s first pilotless flight carrying a human in Central Asia using an eVTOL aircraft.

The flight took place during the Games of the Future 2026, with the EH216-S eVTOL carrying passengers on multiple route flights over event in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Several guests took part in the flights, including Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev, with distinguished attendees observing from the ground, including:

  • President Assistant of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yesekeyev Kuanyshbek
  • Vice-Minister of Transport Kazakhstan Lastayev Talgat Tleubekovich
  • CEO of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan Michael E. Daniel

The successful pilotless human-carrying flight follows the establishment of national regulatory framework for eVTOL infrastructure in June 2026, when Kazakhstan made preparations for:

  • eVTOL aircraft
  • Vertiports
  • Unmanned aircraft traffic management systems (UTM)

EHang also has a Memorandum of Understanding with Allur Group covering the development of advanced air mobility (AAM) markets in Central Asia.

Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev shared there are plans in place for short demonstration and tourist flights using the eVTOL, highlighting its capabilities as well as the landscape and history of the country.
