Sep. 7—BAY CITY — Two individuals were killed after their airplane crashed, according to a news release sent out by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office Tuesday night.

According to the release, at about 1:39 p.m. Tuesday the Sheriff's Office was notified of an airplane crash located about a half mile west of the Red Wing Regional Airport on Highway 35 in a field on airport property.

The airplane was determined to be a 2012 Glass Air Super II SFT that left an airport in Rochester, Minn. at 12:20 p.m. for a training flight to the Red Wing Regional Airport in Bay City.

The Sheriff's Office is waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board to arrive on scene to investigate the crash.
