Plane Crashes at Houston Executive Airport, Leaving 1 Person Injured
A plane crash at a Houston-area airport left one person injured Tuesday, according to a county judge.
Each of the 19 passengers and crew members were able to get off the MD-80 aircraft safely after it crashed at Houston Executive Airport while taking off, Waller County Judge Trey Duhon announced.
“The information we have at this time indicates that the plane did not attain altitude at the end of the runway and went across Morton Road, coming to a rest in the field just north of the airport, where it caught on fire,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
The passenger who was injured in the incident reported back pain, Duhon said.
The plane was said to be on fire shortly before noon local time as emergency officials responded to the scene.
Houston Executive Airport is in Waller County, located about 55 miles northwest of Houston.
