CARP LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a pilot is dead after a small plane crashed in a remote area of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

WLUC-TV reports Sunday that cellphone location data helped locate the plane in a remote area of Carp Lake Township. The pilot, who wasn't immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
