The temporary suspension will allow contractors to safely complete critical pavement, lighting and airfield work associated with the 450-foot extension of Runway 17-35, officials said.
The airport says the reconstruction should be completed by early November and at the very least by Thanksgiving, although the project has faced years of delays and overruns.
