East Midlands Airport jobs under threat in shake-up

UP TO 25 jobs at East Midlands Airport are under threat as part of a shake-up by its owner.

UP TO 25 jobs at East Midlands Airport are under threat as part of a shake-up by its owner.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which owns Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports, said it was looking to change the way it operated from April 1, following a review.

The company said this could affect about 25 managerial and office roles at East Midlands.

Bosses said the action was being taken because certain roles at the four airports could be carried out centrally.

A 30-day consultation period with the affected staff has ended and an announcement is due shortly.

A spokeswoman said: "There could potentially be 25 jobs affected.

"If there are roles created, affected people will have the chance to go for those or they will have the option of severance. "Until we have the outcome of the consultation we can't say what the numbers will be. No customer-facing staff are affected."

The Castle Donington airport, which employs 270 people, saw about 4.25 million passengers pass through it last year. Last month, the future of hundreds of jobs at airline BMI - based in Castle Donington - were put in doubt after owner Lufthansa sold the business to the parent company of British Airways.
