go! Airlines Offered 1,000 Tickets at $1

June 13, 2007

Jun. 12, 2007 (The Airline Hub delivered by Newstex) -- There is an ultra low fare battle going on in the US. And no it does not involve Southwest or SkyBus but rather is taking part in Hawaiistate. go! Airlines, which is a part of Mesa, is in a heated competition for passengers against Hawaiian and Aloha Airlines. Both Hawaiian and Aloha which have been matching fares offered by go! said they would not match the latest offer of 1,000 tickets at just $1. The head of go!'s parent company, Mesa Air Group Inc. (MESA), Jonathan Ornstein said, "I have been asked many times if the fares are going to get any lower. With today.s special fare, I think I can say that.s probably unlikely."kmmad Aloha and Hawaiian have sued Mesa, alleging it is trying to unfairly drive them out of business. But no one has said the airline business is fair. Airlines back in the lower 48 do the same thing. Northwest has been known to protect their home turf with hostile behavior. Airlines are willing to take losses in order to keep that customer. In this case instead of the hometown airlines, it is the new guy being really agressive. Business Week
