Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, has renewed its cargo handling partnership with China Eastern Airlines at Stockholm Arlanda Airport as the carrier resumes nonstop service between Shanghai and Stockholm.

The new three-year contract reunites WFS and China Eastern in Sweden after a six-year hiatus in the airline’s Shanghai-Stockholm service. WFS first began handling cargo for China Eastern in Sweden in 2018 and continues to work with the airline in Copenhagen.

China Eastern is operating three weekly round-trip flights between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Stockholm on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline expects to carry more than 1,000 tons of cargo annually on the route.

“We are delighted to welcome back China Eastern as a valuable customer of WFS at Stockholm Arlanda,” said Kim Elfström, managing director Sweden at WFS. “We enjoyed a strong working relationship in Sweden before the pandemic and have maintained our close Scandinavian ties with the airline through our ongoing contract in Copenhagen.”

WFS operates two cargo terminals at Stockholm Arlanda covering more than 18,000 square meters. Its operations include Good Distribution Practice-certified pharmaceutical handling facilities and road transport services.

The company provides cargo handling and trucking services for more than 20 international airlines and freight forwarding customers at Arlanda.

WFS has continued to expand its cargo handling business in Stockholm over the past year, renewing its contract with Singapore Airlines and adding a handling agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways.
