Eternity Technologies has completed acceptance and certification of a large-scale ground support equipment charging infrastructure project for Aena, supporting electric GSE operations across 41 airports in Spain.

The project manages charging for 2,080 GSE vehicles operated by 58 ground handling companies across the Aena airport network. The infrastructure includes 1,106 DC chargers, 451 dual charging stations and 66 single charging stations, along with the replacement of 136 DC chargers.

In addition to the charging hardware, Eternity Technologies implemented a web-based control and reporting platform designed to provide visibility into charging operations across the network. The system provides GSE identification and charging control, monitors energy consumption, manages operators and users, reports charging sessions and integrates data with SAP ERP.

As of August, the platform had managed more than 6 GWh of energy.

Installation and commissioning took place between September 2023 and March 2024, with final acceptance and certification completed in July 2026. The overall project spanned nearly three years.

“Supporting charging infrastructure across 41 airports and more than 2,000 GSE vehicles required significant coordination, technical expertise and collaboration across our teams,” said Mark Stevenson, CEO of Eternity Technologies.

Stevenson said reliable charging infrastructure and energy management will become increasingly important as airports and ground handling operators transition toward electrified GSE fleets.

The announcement comes just ahead of GSE Expo Europe 2026, taking place Sept. 15-17 at FIL in Lisbon, Portugal. Eternity Technologies will exhibit at Stand F00, where the company plans to showcase its GSE battery, charging and energy solutions.
