Gateway Facilities Named Best FBO in Canada

July 11, 2016

Walking into Gateway Facilities is a lot like going home: the fireplace, the rich colours and Chase, the exuberant pup with different coloured eyes who greets you like a long lost family mewmber.

“We try and greet everyone by name,” says Sarah Stewart, FBO Manager and Flight Operations Coordinator. “People return here again and again and we pride ourselves in getting to know them and their needs.”

That level of customer service and attention to detail is one of the reasons Gateway recently won the Pilots’ Choice Award as the top Fixed Base Operation in Canada, beating out operations many times its size for top place.

“It’s a huge achievement,” says Karl Riches, General Manager at Gateway Facilities, located at Halifax’s Stanfield International Airport. “It’s definitely because of our customer service. It doesn’t matter who you are, you get red carpet service every time.”

Gateway Facilities offers exceptional customer service and a relaxing atmosphere, complete with a private spot to rest.

Chase, the high energy mascot at Gateway, greets visitors with deceptively sad eyes and persistent invitations to play. Start a game of tug of war, grab an ice cream from the snack bar and then sink back into the comfy leather sofas to await your flight.

An FBO is essentially a homeaway-from-home for private aircraft and crews, providing all of the services of a home terminal.

Gateway Facilities offers a variety of services including fuelling, aircraft parking, concierge services, catering, a crew lounge and a fullservice flight planning room.

In addition to being an FBO, Gateway Facilities, located just off Highway 102., is also home to cargo and executive jet services. “Our facilities are second to none and our staff go the extra mile,” says Riches. “They know the answers to your questions before you even ask.”

The annual Pilots’ Choice Award is sponsored by FltPlan.com, and is based on votes cast by registered users. Gateway Facilities has been in the Top 3 for the past five years.
