Now UK-based Flitetec is offering free MX14 Aero trials to airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operators to help the aviation sector lift off again – especially as the solution is also effective against Covid-19.

An innovative cleaning system which shifts deep-seated stains in aircraft interiors has won new certification for its power to wipe out potentially deadly bacteria.

Flitetec’s MX14 Aero antibacterial cleaner for soft furnishings, leather and plastics flew through clinical tests of its ability to eliminate E.coli, listeria monocytogenes, salmonella typhi and staphylococcus aureus.

Scientists at the US Government registered Kappa Laboratories Inc in Florida rated the solution as 99.9% effective within 30 seconds of use against the bugs.

Now UK-based Flitetec is offering free MX14 Aero trials to airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operators to help the aviation sector lift off again – especially as the solution is also effective against Covid-19.

Flitetec managing director Trevor Lea said: “MX14 Aero not only offers vast cost savings at a challenging time for aviation it also delivers considerable added value through its antibacterial qualities.

“It significantly outperformed expectations in latest scientific assessments at the respected Kappa Laboratories, further confirming its ability to eliminate potential deadly strains of bacteria.

“MX14 Aero is also effective decontaminating surfaces of Covid-19 and complies with stringent regulations and rigorous aerospace specifications so operators can use it with confidence both for maintenance and for any deep cleans of aircraft before they return to service.”

Trevor added: “We would be very pleased to make MX14 Aero samples available on a trial basis for airlines and MRO operators to help them adapt to new realities facing the aviation industry.”

Global aerospace company Flitetec is a total cabin interiors support provider. Its expertise includes the design, manufacture, distribution, maintenance and repair of a wide range of aircraft interior products and spares.

was developed as a water-based antibacterial cleaner to remove ink and stain marks from leather and soft furnishings.

Made of natural products which reduce any odour after application, it can also be used on interior parts including plastics in galleys, seats and WCs.

It offers cost savings by eliminating the need to repair or replace soiled furnishings through cleaning whilst maintaining their fire retardant properties, ultimately enhancing the passenger experience with cleaner cabins.

Trevor said: “MX14 Aero is water soluble, biodegradable, safe and yet incredibly effective in removing stains and eliminating surface bacteria.

“All packaging is made of recyclable materials and it has refillable dispensers, so no single use plastic is involved.

“It is the only cleaner in the industry to be 100% biodegradable, with no chlorines, bleaches or solvents; leading the way to a greener cabin and planet.”

MX14 Aero meets rigorous international standards and regulatory requirements.

They include ISO9001-2015 (quality) ISO14001-2015 (environmental) standards, tested to: ASTM F484-08, F485-08, F1104-02 and F2109-01. Including CS/FAR 25.853 App F Part 1 (a) (1) (ii) and CS/FAR 25.853 App F Part 1 (a) (1) (i).

It also has 21J Engineering drawing for repair authorisation and Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL9).

Trevor added: “With our attention to the rigorous EASA/FAA regulatory requirements, which includes engineering, testing, documentation and quality, MX14 Aero not only creates the solution but also provides and updates the necessary information to maintain the adherence to the rules and regulations.”

Kappa Laboratories Inc is a US Food and Drug Administration registered microbiological and chemical testing analytical laboratory in Miami.

It is also holds registrations and recognitions with the US Coast Guard, US Environmental Protection Agency, State of Florida and US Centers for Disease Control.

Separate tests were carried out individually of the four substances: E.coli, listeria monocytogenes, salmonella typhi and staphylococcus aureus. Each found that MX14 Aero had a greater than 99.9 % kill rate.

Dr Kmieck states in his report: “The MX14 Aero Concentrate appeared to be consistently effective in exerting Bactericidal Activity with a greater than 99.9% Reduction against staphylococcus aureus, E.coli, Listeria monocytogenes and salmonella typhi within 30 seconds of contact. Bacteriocidal activity appeared to be equally effective against Gram Positive targets (staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes) and Gram Negative targets (E.coli and salmonella typhi).
