HAI: Tell Congress to Oppose ATC Privatization
General aviation and the helicopter industry face a direct threat in Congress.
As you know, House Bill 2997, the 21st Century AIRR Act, seeks to freely give government assets and control of the world’s safest and most efficient air traffic control (ATC) system to a private corporation that does not directly address or support the helicopter community.
The corporation’s board is largely unaccountable to Congress and will have sweeping powers to modify airspace, change access to airports, determine where resources are deployed, and set charges and fees for ATC services.
Proponents are looking to set this bill up for a House vote within the next few weeks. The proponents are well-funded and include powerful members of Congress and the President of the United States. They do not have our best interests in mind.
We need your voice to be successful. Click here to send a message to your elected officials. If you have already sent an email, thank you. Please also send a tweet or a Facebook post as well. Both can be sent from the link above.
Also, I challenge you to get your colleagues, family, and friends involved. Let Congress hear your voice and the voice of your network! Don’t let a privatized ATC silence your voice. Let Congress know that you oppose ATC privatization.
Best regards,Matt Zuccaro is president and CEO of HAI.
