NATA: House of Representatives to Vote Next Week on Privatizing ATC

The House is expected to vote on this proposal next week, making it imperative that you contact your Member of Congress now to express your opposition to H.R. 2997, the 21st Century AIRR Act.

The battle over privatization of our nation’s air traffic control system has now reached a critical point. The House is expected to vote on this proposal next week, making it imperative that you contact your Member of Congress now to express your opposition to H.R. 2997, the 21st Century AIRR Act.

Visit NATA's Legislative Action Center to contact your Member of Congress. Better still, call your Member of Congress (Toll-Free Advocacy Line 855-265-9002) and make these three points:

  • Access – ATC privatization puts at risk GA’s access to important airways and airports. The legislation’s provisions purportedly “protecting” general aviation access are nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
  • Cost shifting – The corporation’s revenues will be derived from the airlines. Privatization is only the start, the airlines will squeeze general aviation’s access and use the corporation’s special interest driven board of directors to shift their costs to general aviation.
  • Rural investment – The FAA manages the national airspace to the benefit of all users, including rural America. Privatization puts at risk continued investment in airports in those communities, the airports upon which we and our customers depend.

The difference between winning and losing on the House floor will be narrow, so contact your Member of Congress now.

After taking action, please consider sharing our message about the dangers of ATC privatization on your own website so that your customers can join you in this effort.

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) has been the voice of aviation business for over 75 years. Representing nearly 2,300 aviation businesses, NATA’s member companies provide a broad range of services to general aviation, the airlines and the military and NATA serves as the public policy group representing the interests of aviation businesses before Congress and the federal agencies.
