Louisville, KY (February 29, 2016) –– Genesys Aerosystems (Heli-Expo booth #806) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Aspen Avionics (Heli-Expo booth #9235) to obtain an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to use the Aspen Evolutionä Pro 1000H glass display as the primary attitude source for its Helicopter Stability Augmentation System (HeliSAS).
“The Aspen Evolution Pro 1000H delivers an impressive array of flexibility and capabilities including an integral Air Data Computer and Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS). This gives helicopter operators the ability to eliminate problem-prone mechanical gyros with a long-lasting solid-state unit,” stated Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing for Genesys Aerosystems. “Both the Aspen Evolution Pro 1000H and the HeliSAS are already STC’d for installation on a wide array of helicopters, so what we’re doing now is obtaining the approvals to integrate the two together.”
“We anticipate receiving the FAA STC for the HeliSAS/Aspen package on the Robinson R44 at any time now,” she said. “Now we are very excited to begin the process to also offer the advanced capabilities of the Pro 1000H and HeliSAS on the Bell 206. Following that we have a list of other helicopter STC programs planned for the coming months.”
“We believe that with its long list of safety-enhancing capabilities HeliSAS brings to single-pilot operations, the more options for attitude sources we can offer helicopter operators the better,” she said. “The Aspen Pro 1000H is the third attitude source option we’re offering for the HeliSAS. It joins our own Genesys remote ADAHRS and the Garminâ G500ä as approved data sources.”
About the Genesys Aerosystems HeliSAS Helicopter Stability Augmentation System and Autopilot
HeliSAS sets a new standard for helicopter safety and productivity. With features like stability augmentation, the system dramatically reduces pilot workload while providing precise control during all phases of flight regardless of wind conditions or shifts in the helicopter’s weight. In addition, the HeliSAS attitude stabilization and force feel features enhance the helicopter’s handling characteristics to mitigate inadvertent cyclic control inputs that could result in dangerous attitudes or loss of control.
