New Smyrna Beach, Florida – Epic Flight Academy has taken delivery of a Frasca Cessna 172 Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) with Frasca’s Motion Cueing System for fixed-wing devices (FMCS-FX). The flight simulator includes a high-fidelity, six-axis motion system along with an extremely realistic, wrap-around visual system. “Epic Flight Academy is the first flight school in the world to have a Cessna 172 FTD with this high level of motion system. They are leading the way in flight training by providing this very high-fidelity device for their students,” stated John Frasca, President of Frasca International, Inc.

“We are thrilled to add this sim to our flight training facility,” said CEO Danny Perna. “Although we regularly add new planes to our fleet, we also augment flight training with simulators so students can safely experience every type of weather condition and emergency situation. We worked closely with Frasca to develop this simulator. The motion system is based on advanced technology originally designed for use in higher level Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and Full Flight Simulators (FTDs).” Frasca technicians are on site this week finalizing installation.

Epic’s fleet already includes four simulators. These support Epic’s 190 students who enjoy training in Florida’s good weather but also need to train in poor conditions. The new AATD will provide enhanced training.

Perna added, “Epic is known for purchasing all new aircraft. We do this to make sure our students have access to the most current aircraft systems. This particular purchase is especially exciting because it’s the newest technology of its kind. No other flight school offers this AATD.”
