Donations Land Two Airplanes for EvCC Aviation Department

Private donations allowed Everett Community College's Aviation Maintenance Technician School to recently acquire two aircraft to help train future aviation maintenance technicians.

An anonymous local business owner donated a twin engine Beechcraft Duke BE60 worth $300,000. The 1974 airplane is outfitted with modern instruments and other upgrades.

A variety of private donors contributed $48,000 that helped the college purchase a Cessna 421.

"While demand for skilled aviation workers is growing, these donations will provide the capacity for more students to do hands-on training using modern avionics and instruments," aviation maintenance instructor Alex Porter said.

EvCC's Aviation Maintenance Technician School is located at Paine Field Airport. More than 80 students are enrolled in the program. They learn the background knowledge and practical shop experience to earn an associate's degree, certificate in aviation maintenance technology, or airframe and powerplant license. The 2,040 hour, eight-quarter program is FAA certified. Graduates work in Snohomish County and around the world.
