    AIM Addresses A&P Shortage with Move to 109,000 Square Foot Flagship Campus in Norfolk, on E Little Creek Rd

    NORFOLK, Va. (January 7, 2020) – Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) Chesapeake has relocated their flagship campus to a new facility at 2329 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, VA. This comes in juncture with AIM’s recent acquisition of Teterboro School of Aeronautics in the New York City Metro area, being the Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s 13th campus nationwide. The new Norfolk campus building was previously the Calvary Christian School, and during renovation AIM donated the left over school equipment to the City of Norfolk and REACH, Inc. (Reading Enriches All Children). According to the 2019 Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook, the aviation industry will need to hire over 769,000 AMTs over the next 20 years. With the increase of its student body and the growing need for aviation maintenance technicians, the move provides the school expansion and modernization opportunities.

    The new campus is housed in an 11-acre, 109,000 sq. ft. facility. The building has two separate hangars, one for airplanes and the other for powerplants. It also includes a separate engine room along with specific areas for welding, soldering and composites. The school’s equipment includes multi-engine and single-engine aircraft, airframes, turbine and piston engines, a helicopter and specially designed training aids.

    AIM Norfolk’s new campus offers the convenience of an on-site certified testing center where students can take their Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) written examinations. All classrooms are equipped with Smart TV technology and WIFI is available for students. A fully equipped computer lab and Learning Resource Center are available to students, along with separate lounge areas, including a special area for our veteran population. The school also has a 13,000 sq. ft. gymnasium with a full-sized basketball court for student activities and community events. The facility is less than 2 miles from Norfolk International Airport.
