CLEAR and Denver International Airport Agree to Multi-Year Contract Extension

Dec. 21, 2020

CLEAR and the Denver Department of Aviation announced today a three-year contract extension, with options for an additional 10 years, for CLEAR’s touchless identity screening at the Denver International Airport (DEN). This new agreement ensures that travelers will be able to utilize CLEAR’s secure identity platform and touchless security lanes through at least 2023, with the potential for additional extensions through 2033, and also contemplates broader technology collaboration between DEN and CLEAR.

This announcement is the latest in a decade-long partnership between the city of Denver and CLEAR. In the 10 years since launching operations at DEN, about 10 percent of the Denver-area population has enrolled in CLEAR’s secure identity platform. Nationwide, CLEAR has enrolled over 5 million people. In addition to proudly serving its loyal members, CLEAR is also a proud member of the Denver community, employing over 60 people and injecting over $5 million into the local economy each year.

“Today marks another important milestone in our long and fruitful partnership with Denver International Airport,” said CLEAR Chairman and CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker. “DEN was our very first airport. We are humbled to have earned the trust of so many local residents and travelers over the past 10 years and look forward to our continued partnership in the years to come.”

At DEN, CLEAR’s touchless technology helps travelers pass through airport security by using their iris to confirm identity, eliminating the need to hand travel documents to a screening agent. This is not only a time saver for travelers, but also helps mitigate risk and brings peace of mind to anyone who must travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the company successfully launched a tech demonstration for DEN travelers of Health Pass by CLEAR, a mobile application that connects a person’s identity to multiple layers of COVID-related insights to reduce public health risk. CLEAR has also helped offer Colorado Rockies fans an enhanced and touchless experience at Coors Field since 2015.

“Over the past decade, many DEN passengers have enjoyed the expedited platform that CLEAR provides giving residents and tourists alike the opportunity to move through our airport safely and efficiently,” said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “This renewal of their contract will guarantee that passengers will continue to have that option at DEN for years to come.”
