Feb. 25—With the start of this new year, the Logansport-Cass County Airport has a new manager.
Chad Weisend, who started Jan. 4, brings with him a lifetime of aviation experience.
"I started my career in the Navy in 1985 specializing as an aircraft electrician," Weisend said. "I then transferred to the Airforce in 1988. I retired after 36 years of service as Chief Master Sergeant."
During that time, he was the Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent of the 434th Aircraft Squadron, managing 16 KC-135's and 300 airmen.
He held that position at Grissom Air Reserve Base from July 2008 until coming to Logansport-Cass County Airport, and he was also an aircraft A&P mechanic at the Peru Municipal Airport from 2014 until coming here.
"Aviation has been a big part of my life," he said.
His experience also includes holding an FAA Airframe and Power Plant mechanic license with an Inspector authorization endorsement, and he's a private pilot with an instrument rating as well.
"It has been a great career," he said. "I'm excited to be the new manager at Logansport/Cass Co airport and look forward to making it the best it can be for the community. I look forward to this next chapter in my career."
Weisend has been married to Venica for more than 31 years, and they have a son, Derek, and daughter, Alaynah. They have three grandchildren with two more on the way.
