Cargo Traffic via Turkish Erzurum Airport Decreases

Some 3,362 tons of cargo were transported via Turkish Erzurum Airport from January through August 2020, which is by 40 percent less than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports on Sept. 24 referring to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

Over the reporting period, 3,329 tons of cargo were transported through the Erzurum Airport via domestic flights, which is declined by 39 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

Meanwhile, 33 tons were transported through the airport via international flights in the past 8 months of 2020, down by 71 percent compared to the same period of last year, the ministry said.

Reportedly, the airport served 346,923 passengers from January through August this year, down by 49 percent year on year.

Moreover, 344,869 passengers were served via domestic flights, which is also an annualized 49-percent drop.

As many as 2,054 passengers were served via international flights at the airport from January through August 2020, which is by 63 percent less than in the same period of last year.

As the ministry also noted, 2,913 flights were made through the airport, which is decreased by 38 percent on an annualized basis.

Out of them, 2,562 domestic flights were made from January through August 2020, which is a 39-percent year-on-year decline.

The number of international flights through the airport also decreased by 39 percent compared to the period from January through August 2019 and made up 51.

During the past eight months of 2020, the number of flights decreased by 48.9 percent in Turkey, up to 532,458 flights.

Meanwhile, more than 52.2 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, over 1.4 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
