Kusch+Co Turns Waiting Time into Relaxation Time at the Airport Berlin Schönefeld

Feb. 7, 2019
Looking for upscale airport seating to furnish the waiting area, the FBB decided in favor of nearly 2,000 seat units from Kusch+Co.

Shaping the way we sit. This motto sums up the vision and the core values that Kusch+Co lives and breathes every day. As an innovative market leader, they have delivered their seating to more than 240 airports in over 40 countries worldwide and have been a long-time reliable partner to Germany’s largest hub airports, including the airport Berlin Schönefeld.

With over 12.8 million guests per year, the airport Berlin Schönefeld ranks among the major civil airports in Germany. In view of the postponed opening of BER to October 2020, this airport shall remain in operation as the so-called Terminal “T5” of the new BER for the next five years – expected to handle 6 million passengers per year.

At the end of 2018, an interim waiting area spreading over 2,600 m² − with a seating capacity to accommodate approx. 1,000 passengers − was taken into operation by the airline Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB). This new waiting area is designed to facilitate the boarding process as well as access to the Gates, and to simultaneously improve the comfort for the passengers waiting for their flight.

Looking for upscale airport seating to furnish the waiting area, the FBB decided in favor of nearly 2,000 seat units from Kusch+Co.

In this temporary waiting area, the 328 seat units from the waiting bench series 8300 V-Travel have already proven their worth. They are characterized by a minimalist, industrial design and a visual lightness. The classic dark grey color scheme adds to their appeal. The dynamically curved seat shells featuring extra high backrests invite everyone to take a seat and relax. These benches are designed to offer the best possible comfort and extend an invitation to all passengers to sit back and relax. The configuration includes four-seater benches with generously spaced seats, and as such offers plenty of personal space and the possibility for an individual retreat.

In the recently refurbished waiting areas of the Terminals A and D, the passengers can expect to see a very exciting bench configuration, where the architecturally modern appearance of the 8300 V-Travel waiting benches is functionally complemented by the warm-colored lounge variations. The warm Bordeaux red provides an exciting, contemporary contrast to the muted grey color scheme, highlighting the up-to-date ergonomics and comfort level of the seats. A stylish way to wait for one’s flight.

The Pier 3a will accommodate a departure and an arrival area with a centralized border control on the ground floor as well as an access to non-Schengen-flights on the first floor. Through forgoing the use of partition walls, the 730 new seat units from the series 8300 V-Travel will create an open and inviting bench configuration once the renovation is complete.

The new waiting areas at the Airport Berlin Schönefeld are designed to offer plenty of personal space and comfort. The clear-cut design language of the waiting benches from series 8300 V-Travel by Kusch+Co are elegantly complemented by the lounge benches.
