Rocket Fell Near Erbil's Airport in Northern Iraq
A rocket hit late Wednesday near northern Iraq's Erbil international airport, security sources told dpa.
A source from the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Office said that the explosion was caused by a rocket that landed in the vicinity of Erbil international airport, near the warehouses of the military base of the International Coalition Forces in Erbil.
A US military base is located in the vicinity of the airport.
Eyewitnesses told local media outlets that smoke was billowing from around the airport.
The source added that according to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
In February, two people were injured after rockets hit residential areas close to the airport.
