The Sacramento County Department of Airports has appointed Harry Barrett Jr. as assistant director of airports, effective May 26, adding experienced leadership to its four-airport system.
Barrett joins from Palm Springs International Airport, where he served as executive director of aviation for four years and led a series of major capital and operational initiatives.
In his new role, Barrett will report to Director of Airports Cindy Nichol and help guide strategic priorities across Sacramento’s airport system, including capital development, air service growth, community engagement and workforce development.
At Palm Springs, Barrett oversaw key projects including a $34 million ticketing lobby expansion, a taxiway expansion and a $93 million baggage system optimization program. He also helped advance a long-term modernization plan valued at $2.8 billion.
Earlier in his career, Barrett held roles at Renton Municipal Airport, Bellingham International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, building experience across both airside and landside operations.
His appointment comes as Sacramento continues to invest in infrastructure and expand service across its airports, which include Sacramento International, Mather, Executive and Franklin Field.
