Sheneice M. Hughes will retire as Deputy Director – Finance, People, and Culture for Aviation at Dallas Love Field on March 31, concluding a 26-year career with the City of Dallas and 13 years with the Department of Aviation.
Hughes joined the aviation department in 2013 and stepped into executive leadership in 2018, where she played a central role in reshaping business operations and workplace culture at DAL. During her tenure, she oversaw 15 divisions and led initiatives that strengthened workforce development, external communications and overall employee engagement.
Her impact extended to major operational and financial improvements. As Chief Financial Officer, Hughes helped secure funding for key infrastructure projects and delivered more than $123 million in savings through strategic refinancing. She also contributed to the completion of the airport’s 2025 Airport Use & Lease Agreement, maintaining its long-term relationship with Southwest Airlines through 2042.
Earlier in her career, Hughes held roles in the Mayor and City Council Office and the city’s Civil Service department, where she supported community initiatives and helped shape promotional processes for public safety departments.
To recognize her contributions, Dallas Love Field established the “Sheneice M. Hughes Innovator of the Year” Award, naming Hughes as its first recipient.
Her retirement marks the departure of a senior leader who played a key role in advancing operational performance, financial strategy and organizational culture at one of the nation’s busiest domestic airports.
