Breeze Non-Stop Florida Flights Coming to Springfield in December
Sep. 19—Breeze Airways is bringing non-stop flights to and from Orlando and Tampa in Florida to Springfield starting in December.
The airline announced Tuesday its move into Springfield with flights from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. It will offer twice-weekly service to Orlando International Airport beginning Dec. 1 and Tampa International Airport beginning Dec. 4 and is offering an introductory fare of $49 one-way.
"We are extremely excited to be the first airport in Illinois to welcome Breeze Airways. ... Breeze's commitment to Springfield demonstrates the confidence they have in our community to support these new routes and to grow as new opportunities become available, Springfield Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Chairman Frank J. Vala said. "We thank Breeze for providing our community convenient and direct access to these two popular Florida destinations. We look forward to great success."
Flights will go to Orlando on Mondays and Fridays, switching to Wednesdays and Saturdays on Jan. 10. Tampa flights will be on Mondays and Fridays.
The introductory fare will be available through Sept. 25 for travel by April 30. Some restrictions apply.
Breeze Airways started in May 2021 and offers more than 150 nonstop routes between 37 cities in 22 states.
The Springfield routes will be flown on Breeze's new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which features three seating options, including Breeze Ascent, a recliner-style seat with 39 inches of seat pitch and 20.5 inches of seat width. Breeze offers bundled and a la carte flying options known as Nice, Nicer and Nicest.
"Springfield will be our first airport served in Illinois, and it's joining the network with two great nonstop routes right from the jump," Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey said. "Breeze is all about adding service to under-served markets and city pairs, and we can't wait to give the community of Springfield some new destinations with Breeze's added convenience, affordability and flexibility."
